Welcome to The Belly Dance Guild’s 2025 performance at Christmas in the Park. The Belly Dance Guild is a Northern California-based nonprofit membership organization for belly dance performers, artisans, musicians, photographers, teachers, students, vendors, producers, and enthusiasts. Our mission is to create an inclusive community that promotes the expressive arts rooted in Middle Eastern, North African, Hellenic and Turkish (MENAHT) culture and ensure the continuing presence of belly dance as a vital and growing art form.
Raqs Sharqi — more commonly referred to as belly dancing — is Arabic for “Eastern dance.” Its most accepted origination dates to 2000 BCE (Before Common Era) Egypt. Today, not only do we perform the traditional dances, but also modern styles of belly dance, many of which include fusion of other prominent dance styles.
Today you’ll see examples of old and new belly dance, with many dancers including a holiday twist! Many of our dancers performing today also teach classes or can be hired to perform at your event... if you are interested in getting in touch with on of them, please contact The Belly Dance Guild!
