Christmas in the Park 2023 performances

Thank you for joining us today at The Belly Dance Guild's Christmas in the Park show!

Belly dance is an art form older than history. This dance form spans a wide swath of geography, music, costuming, and culture, with deep roots in the Middle East (Egypt, North Africa, the Levant), and tendrils of influence and inclusion east to west on the old Silk Road cultures, from what's now western China, Afghanistan and Rajasthan, to Morocco and Spain.

In modern times, it's a dance of empowerment, allowing the expression of many emotions, as well as the creation of community bonds. The music can be uplifting and celebratory, to blues-like and mournful, and just about anything in between.

In this show you see the use of props (veil, wings, fans, canes, swords and more). The dancers make it look easy because of their years of experience; all of our props take strength and deftness to wield.

Many of us are professional teachers and performers, and we'd love for you to come learn with us, or to grace your next event to make it magical!

We hope you enjoy our presentation. If you do, consider joining The Belly Dance Guild or donating to us so that we can offer more events like this one.  We are a 501c7 organization with the goal of continuing to expand and broaden the appreciation of our art form! Thank you again for your attention and enthusiasm!
