Thank you for your interest in volunteering - our event couldn't be great without you!  

Members who volunteer for at least two hours (one shift) and non-members who volunteer at least four hours (two shifts) will receive the following perks:

    • Free admission to the Festival
    • Preferred Dancer registration and placement

Volunteer job descriptions are below. Please fill out this form so we can get your information and find the best fit for you!

Volunteer Jobs

  Pre-Event
Set Up

Responsibilities:

  • Be available from 8:00-10:00 am on event date
  • Help set up chairs, tables, and booths
  • Set up and organize dressing (green) rooms
  • Set up and organize front desks
  • Generally run around and help with last-minute requests

Prerequisites:

  • This is a physical job; must be able/willing to run around and carry/move tables, chairs etc, as needed
  • Flexible and positive attitude
  • Attend 30-minute Zoom meeting before the event for information and Q&A session

Door Dragons -
Registration Desk

Dragons guard the entrance to the halls of gold - our Gilded space!

Responsibilities:

  • Be available from [15 minutes before workshop starting time?] to [half-hour before festival ending time?] in 2-4 hour increments
  • Check in attendees and workshop participants
    • Confirm pre-purchased tickets
    • Stamp hands for reentry
    • Take on-premise payments
  • Check in performers (dancers, musicians)
    • Checked in, 60 minutes before performing
    • Stamp hands for reentry
    • Contact Performer Organizer (via walkie talkie) to help them get to dressing rooms
  • Monitor Lost & Found items
    • Keep a list of items reported lost
    • Keep a box of items turned in as found
  • Dressing in dragon attire optional!


      Prerequisites:

      • Organizational and trouble-shooting skills 
      • Ability to handle money (comfort with applied math skills)
      • Comfortable using a walkie talkie
      • Enthusiastic, welcoming and upbeat attitude
      • Attend 30-minute Zoom meeting before the event for information and Q&A session


      Workshop Volunteer

      Responsibilities:

      • Be available 9:50-11:50am on event date
      • Check in workshop attendees
      • As needed, help teacher set up 
      • Sit in on class, assist as needed

      Prerequisites:

      • Organizational and trouble-shooting skills 
      • Attend 30-minute Zoom meeting before the event for information and Q&A session

      Performer Manager

      Responsibilities:

      • Be available for a 2-4 hour block between 12:00-7:30 pm on event date (specific time will be assigned to you ASAP)
      • Ensure orderliness of the dressing rooms
      • Ensure that dancers are ready and able to get on stage at assigned times
        • Dancers are checked in at least 60 minutes ahead of time
        • “Next dancer” is in the wings and ready
        • “2nd dancer up” is on deck and ready

          • Comfort using a walkie-talkie
          • Excellent communication and diplomatic skills
          • Enthusiastic personality
          • Attend 30-minute Zoom meeting before the event for information and Q&A session


          Souq (Vendor) Manager


          Responsibilities:

          • Making rounds of our marketplace, make sure that the vendors, including food vendors, are cared for.  This could include:
            • Are they getting enough attention?  If not, make an announcement, or otherwise encourage people to their booth
            • Do they need anything?  Maybe offer to refill their water bottles or get them a snack (with their money)
          • If there are issues, contact our acting CFO, Karen Stephens, to help

          Prerequisites:

          • Organizational and trouble-shooting skills 
          • Comfort using a walkie-talkie
          • Excellent communication and diplomatic skills
          • Enthusiastic personality
          • Attend 30-minute Zoom meeting before the event for information and Q&A session


          Post-event Clean-up

          Responsibilities:
          • Be available from 7:00-9:00 pm on event date
          • Help take down chairs, tables, and booths
          • Uninstall and box up dressing (green) room supplies/decorations
          • Box up front desk items
          • Generally run around and help with last-minute requests

          Prerequisites:

          • This is a physical job; must be able/willing to run around and carry/move tables, chairs etc, as needed
          • Flexible and positive attitude
          • Attend 30-minute Zoom meeting before the event for information and Q&A session

          Volunteer Floater

          Responsibilities:

          • Be available during the event (2-4 hour block) to briefly relieve or fill in for other volunteers who need a break, have an emergency, or fail to show up
          • Generally wander event to see if there are any problems; pick up stray trash
